Benefits:
- You will gain an understanding of circadian rhythm in ways that will improve health and avoid chronic disease.
- Optimal Circadian Rhythm can improve sleep, energy and body composition.
Circadian Rhythm represents the overall clock of our body that keeps the timing of its functions in order. One of the most common signs that the rhythm is off is poor sleep. Poor sleep can lead to other conditions such as insulin resistance and then chronic diseases.
Emerging evidence suggests that circadian regulation is intimately linked to metabolic homeostasis, and that dysregulation of circadian rhythms can contribute to disease.
Brain wave activity, hormone production, cell regeneration and other biological activities are linked to this 24-hour cycle.
Sleep is one of the more discussed symptoms and include excessive sleepiness and lack of daytime alertness. In the circadian rhythm disorder called delayed sleep phase syndrome, people tend to fall asleep at very late times and have difficulty waking up in time for school. In another disorder, advanced sleep phase syndrome, the major sleep episode is advanced in relation to the desired clock time. The result is evening sleepiness, an early sleep onset and waking up earlier than desired.
Sleep is not the only aspect of health affected. Regulation of all body functions can be dysregulated represented in a variety of symptoms.
Example Curriculum
Complementary Programs
Circadian Rhythm is integrally tied to one's sleep in terms of duration and quality.
Completing the Sleep program program after the Circadian Rhythm program is highly recommended.
